Friday: The Japas Way 1017

Every Friday, we feature a one-on-one Q&A with Japas, our resident curators: Maíra Kimura, Yumi Shimada, and Fernanda Ueno—founders of Japas Cervejaria. They will share their personal reflections on culture, travel, and the everyday moments including their connection to Japan.

Q: Did you pick up any souvenirs during your trip in Japan?

Maíra: I mostly brought back edible souvenirs. I brought matcha, moshio salt, some Japanese beers and wines.

Yumi: A lot! I'm a designer, so imagine the possibilities. I bought a lot of beer cans, nihonshu, stickers, ceramic items, clothes, pens, papers for collage, vintage toys, and all kinds of strange things, basically everything you can imagine that's vintage. I really love that kind of stuff, so Japan felt like one big shopping paradise full of opportunities.

Fernanda: Yes, I also bought some spices like sansho, some sake bottles, and I brought some ceramic cups and chawans, some coffee supplies and things from antique stores.
