Every Friday, we feature a one-on-one Q&A with Japas, our resident curators: Maíra Kimura, Yumi Shimada, and Fernanda Ueno—founders of Japas Cervejaria. They will share their personal reflections on culture, travel, and the everyday moments including their connection to Japan.

Q: How do you hope your work encourages people to discover Japanese culture?
Japas: We hope our work invites people to experience Japanese culture in a way that feels alive, sensory and personal. Through beer, we bring together ingredients and stories, offering a creative and delicious gateway into the culture. Each recipe is like a conversation between Japan and Brazil, filtered through our perspective as Japanese-Brazilian women. Our hope is that this mix inspires people not only to discover more about those countries, but also to reflect on their own roots and cultural intersections.
